What's really going on?

Anne McLellan changed her mind on the definition of marriage. She is a Liberal MP for the Edmonton Centre riding. She previously stated how important it is to defend traditional marriage but is now voting in favour of Bill C-38 . What would make her change her mind? Will Paul Martin honour his word that the vote on Bill C-38 will be one of free will? It makes you wonder if anyone in parliament really has a free will. Let's say hypothetically that they don't have a free will--that they have to vote the way their political party wants them to. Okay. So who controls what the party wants? The members? The party leader? The millionaires who support the party? Because after all, if a party loses their support base, how can they stay/get into power?
