The Name of the Game
Infidelity. It's the name of an upcoming reality show in which married/dating couples find other people to have affairs with. The producers say this kind of entertainment is what sells. They're probably right. In the age of "if it feels good do it" reasoning, anything goes of course. Whether or not it is immoral or degrades the decency of human life is irrelevant--or so they think. History has proves that when a society comes to a point in time where human life and well-being are taking for granted and exploited, it ceases to function. I will let history tell the truth of this. Take a look prior to the fall of the Roman or ancient Greek Empires. They had engaged in indecent acts and immoral behaviour. We now live in a society where adultery, homosexuality, pornography ("art"), etc. are becoming increasingly accepted. There is such a lack of morals, a lack of sacredness for the human body.
Humans are clearly set apart from all other living creatures on earth. We have the attribute of intellect and the ability to reason--and we end up using it for creating pleasure and personal gain. Of course, that is all that really matters right? If I am not happy I need to take any action necessary to become happy. Whether I leave people hurt, or worse, it doesn't matter. This is the reasoning of millions of people in North America. But, "...the joy of the godless lasts but a moment."
There is a difference between being happy and having joy. Throughout history we can see a clear difference between the two. I for one want joy in my life. I have experienced many things in my life. I've been from sea to sea throughout my 23 years of existence. From what I have experienced and learned from others throughout my life, joy can only be found from one source. That source is God.
God Himself clearly teaches humans this. Here is but one example, "splendor and majesty are before him; strength and joy in his dwelling place." I for one want to wait for the eternal pleasure that awaits us if we serve God and seek Him. "...you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand."
I could include so many more teachings from the Bible but I think the choice is obvious. True joy can only be found in God. I thank God that we can come to Him at any time because Jesus has bore the penalty of our sins.
