Lighter Side of Life

My muffler fell off my car last night. Yeah, you read right. I was over at my friend's family's place. My friend's dad walked in and told me he had observed my muffler hanging low. Immediately my mind flashed back to earlier that day when I had heard a noise like that of my car rubbing on the ground. I guess the muffler had rubbed the ground enough to loosen it from it's joining disposition with rusty straight pipe. Hmm, not good. So I proceeded outside to have a look. I got down on all fours and stuck my head under the rear end of my newly purchased white Pontiac. As I lightly pushed up on the muffler it came crashing to the ground. Oh, that's nice I thought. I'm blessed that the stupid piece of metal didn't fall off somewhere along my journey to this house. A reminder that God watches out for us in the small details of life. Even though I would have heard if the muffler had fallen off while I was driving, it might have caused an accident. Or I might have lost it and had to buy a whole new one. This way I can get it welded back on for cheap!! If I owned a truck and this had happened, it'd almost be a bonus.

The funny thing is this isn't the first time it's happened to me. Yah, when my sister owned Flo and I was driving it back from P.A. the exhaust pipe fell off and was dragging at highway speed. The pipe had rusted apart in front of the muffler and fell with the hole facing forward. Once again, I was very blessed that the pipe and muffler didn't buckle underneath the car. Someone eventually stopped and helped me tie it up with a strip of metal he had. I had been trying to attatch the pipe with speaker wire (it was all I had!). Not to mention it was -30.
