Christmas

I went home for a few days to celebrate the birth of Jesus with my family. It was good to see my brother home from Korea. He brought with him pictures, video clips, food, and gifts from the unique and interesting country. Although we didn't do too much in the way of being active, it was a good visit. We did go sliding on the Battleford's biggest hill and I almost flattened a little girl because she apparently doesn't know what "GET OUT OF THE WAY!" and "LOOK OUT!" mean. I don't know if her sliding saucer survived the run-in with me, she was thankfully off to the side of her saucer upon my impact of it. Hmmm.

Dad was a little weak for the first couple days but after that he was doing fine. He enjoyed doing everything with the family, so that was an answer to prayer. I found out that dad and mom received a letter stating that the tumor in the chest is gone! Praise God! I'm not sure about the speck on the lung. The middle of January is when he goes in for more tests. And then after that the stem cell transplant procedure is still scheduled for go ahead. The doctors want to prevent the cancer from spreading anywhere else so they feel this procedure is necessary. It's in God's hands. Until later....

Painful Boost

Dad had a rough couple of days. The injection to boost his cell counts is sometimes very painful. He ended up going to local hospital in Battleford and getting some pain killers. Mom says he did better today, but exhausted from the painful ordeal. Another CT Scan was done recently so we might have some results next week.

Update #90482309482304983240

Just kidding, don't take the title so seriuosly eh!. Dad has been sleeping a lot since his four day hiccup-spree stopped. Mom says he is weak due to the two chemo rounds in a row. Pray for strength for mom and dad. Pray that God would bless dad with good health and strength for Christmas. My brother is coming home from Korea so it would be great if dad could spend time with all of us instead of sleeping. Anyway, things are going well other than that...

God's Provision

God provides. Countless examples throughout the Bible reveal God's provision for His people. Even when they doubted Him, their needs were met. God provided a perfect place for Adam and Eve to live; He provided for Noah and his family; He provided a ram for Abraham to sacrifice it as a burnt offering instead of his son, Issac; He provided the people of Israel with food and water everyday for fourty years; He provided a way for you and me to Him through Jesus Christ. Well, all of this to say that God has provided for my needs in a very tangible way. In the last few weeks I:

-Found a nice place to live at a decent price, close to church and Christy
-Have started a new casual job mentoring a child with disabilities
-Am going through an interview process for full-time work (in winter and part-time in spring/summer, which would work out great)
-Have been able to fix my truck and pay off a large chunk of loan due to God's provision of money
-Have been getting quite a few jobs lately through my business (they have all been jobs that I can do...my back is still bothering me so I can't lift anything too heavy)
-And my dad is out of the hospital and doing alright, and my brother is coming home for Christmas

I have quite a bit to be thankful for. Things are becoming more certain for me. And ALL of the thanks and praise goes to my Friend, my King, and my Provider, God.

He's In, He's Out....Yay!

Mom is coming to pick up dad today. He is done this second round of chemo which started only 5 days ago. Another CT Scan will be done and then hopefully chemo doesn't start up again until January. We're not looking forward to the next round as the doctors are going to harvest dad's stem cells and then destroy just about all living cells in his body with chemo and then let him recover and place the stem cells back in after recovery...the joy of the Lord is my strength.

The Way To Travel

I love travelling. Mostly by road. I used to live for road trips--to anywhere and with anyone. The further away from home, the more adventurous the trip becomes it seems. As of late I have not been on a trip of any significant distance from home. This unfortunate reality will have to be remedied soon. Although I do not forsee it happening until next summer or fall.

I have realized today the extent of my travelling endevours. Having been in 3 different countries, 20 states, and 5 provinces, I would dare to say that I have been to more places than the average person. I want to make it a point to do a lot more travelling--and not just road trips. Although flying isn't my favourite mode of travel, I want to learn to get used to it and actually enjoy it. Scotland, England, and pretty much the entirety of Western Europe entices me. Someday I want to "backpack" (as they call it) through this area of the world. Until then...

Home

Dad is on his way home. I guess he's feeling better. I'll post more details when I know them.

Ten More Days?

Just heard from Chris, who heard from mom, that dad might be in the hospital for another ten days! Crazy. He has some sort of infection in his blood and a fever. And if the next batch of chemo starts three weeks from when he fininished this one, that will put him back in the hospital a couple of days after he gets out (assuming there is a bed available). I wish I could go up and see him but alas I would bring some potentially deadly cold germs.

God is faithful, praise Him where you're at today!
